During winters with prolonged snow cover and extreme sub-zero temperatures, the survival rate of birds decreases, as many cannot find enough food and perish. By feeding birds in winter, we help them find at least a portion of the necessary food, significantly increasing their chances of survival even in the harshest winter conditions.

One of the important rules of winter feeding is: if you start feeding birds, you must do so regularly throughout the entire winter (from early December to early March). Many birds become accustomed to a reliable food source and return to the same spot every day throughout the winter.

Birds are typically fed sunflower seeds, wheat, millet, oats, and grains. In bird feeders, you can also add apples and nuts. You can purchase and install suet cakes for birds as well.

Never feed birds bread, as they cannot digest it, and it can make them sick or even cause death.

Species you can expect to see include the great tit, blue tit, coal tit, nuthatch, chaffinch, sparrow, woodpecker, and others.

With a little effort and goodwill, you can do a good deed for a small part of the bird world in your area, and the birds will be grateful for it.
